As you well know, the coronavirus has hit South African shores and in response, the president has proactively and admirably declared a nationwide lockdown, with the exception of essential services, in an effort to slow the spread of the virus.
During the lockdown, all South Africans will have to stay at home from midnight on Thursday 26th March to midnight on Thursday 16th April 2020.
The implications for the virus reaching the most vulnerable in our society are considerable. We need to act fast, responsibly and in solidarity in order to protect those most at risk. With this said, Bearings 2000 has a duty to our customers in essential services to ensure critical components are supplied during lockdown to guarantee that food and health security along with various other essential services continue to serve our nation’s citizens.
Our operations during lockdown
Bearings 2000 has been designated as an essential service provider for the duration of the lock-down. We will, however, be drastically limiting our operations in order to comply with recent legislation and minimise any non-essential travel and other risks to our employees’ health and the overall success of the lockdown in containing the virus.
We will only be assisting essential services customers for their critical needs during this exceptionally trying time. Any customer requiring our services during this time, will need to provide us with official documentation confirming they are authorised to continue operations as an essential service provider.
Minister of Trade and Industry, Ebrahim Patel, declared that all businesses that will be allowed to provide essential services are required to seek approval from the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition for them to trade during the lockdown period.
